Very pretty! I have three white birches (B. papyrifera) and they are lovely in 3 seasons but not in fall. I never get the golden yellow leaves that I see everywhere and that your picture shows. Mine turn brown and drop by mid October. The bark is wonderful, though. The trees are tended (watered in drought, sprayed for borer, etc.) but they just don’t like autumn in my yard.

Could be that you have European White Birch (Betula pendula), Laurie. Usually dull yellow or yellow green in fall. At least you have the bark to enjoy! Thanks for the comments!

Love the White Birch and also your photo. I couldn’t use them in Virginia as it was too warm, except in a few upper elevations. Now that I am back in NJ, they are on my list again!

One of the bonuses of moving back north, that and hopefully participating in a Northeast Gardeners Tweetup! Hope to see at one someday!
